Kelly D. Jones, LCSW is a native of Tifton, Georgia, but has been a resident of Valdosta since 1998. Upon graduating from high school, she began her pursuit of her career choice, which resulted in receipt of a Bachelors degree in Psychology (2003), and a Masters Degree in Social Work from Valdosta State University (2006). While enrolled in the Master Social Work program at Valdosta State, she completed two full length practicum placements, one with a local school system, as well as one with a local outpatient mental health and substance abuse facility/program. While working as an intern, she was additionally employed full-time as a Program Specialist at an inpatient treatment facility. Following her work as an intern in the outpatient setting, she was hired as a full time therapist and remained working in that capacity for 7 years providing individual, family, and group mental health counseling services, with a primary focus on the adult and addiction populations. She has been fully licensed in the State of Georgia as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 2010. She has also contributed to Valdosta State University as an Adjunct Professor with the Department of Social Work. Kelly is also involved in a number of local, regional, and state initiatives to expand awareness, education, and support for individuals and families impacted by substance use disorders. Her goal is to provide a safe, therapeutic environment where one can share their innermost struggles and challenges without feeling judged or criticized, and to empower each client with education, confidence and self-awareness. Her clinical experience has included a strong focus on the various addictions that individuals struggle with, as well as a wide range of anxiety and mood disorders, and the various maladaptive coping strategies and thought/behavior patterns that form around these disorders. She also works with couples and other significant relationships to navigate through the common challenges of effective communication and conflict resolution, to either build or re-build a strong relational foundation and promote relational enrichment.
